In his role as Legal Talent Assistant at Scale LLP, Shannon Russo is responsible for assisting with attorney recruitment, employee onboarding and offboarding, community engagement, and event planning.

Previously, Shannon served as Recruiting & Operations Coordinator at Kobre & Kim, a global law firm focusing on disputes and investigations, where he successfully oversaw global recruitment for a 60+ person Legal Analyst program. Additionally, Shannon worked as a paralegal in Trial Bureau 40 of the Manhattan District Attorney's office, where he supported ADAs in drafting legal documents and memoranda, transcribing witness interviews, and conducting legal research. Shannon also spent some time teaching English Language Arts at a public New York City charter school. A Phi Beta Kappa member and graduate with honors in English from Vassar College, Shannon's achievements reflect his commitment to excellence.

Finding Community in the Post-Pandemic Legal World

For those in the legal profession, the need to build community has never been stronger. According to research conducted by the Harvard Business Review, lawyering still counts as one of the “loneliest professions,” and a growing body of research has raised alarms about the mental health of overworked attorneys: one 2023 study found that lawyers facing high stress, overwork and loneliness were more than twice as likely to contemplate suicide as other working adults. The crisis is not confined to attorneys putting in long hours at the largest firms, however, but affects lawyers across the profession including in solo practice, suggesting that isolation and lack of community are significant contributing factors in addition to workload.
