Brendan Zee-Cheng

Brendan advises emerging technology companies on building and protecting intellectual property-driven businesses, with a focus on commercial transactions and practical general counsel support. As a member of Scale LLP’s Dual-Use and Emerging Defense Technology team, Brendan works directly with founders and senior leadership of companies operating at the intersection of commercial and government markets, prioritizing IP strategy, data rights, and contracting that preserves long-term enterprise value.   He drafts and negotiates complex commercial agreements, serves as embedded fractional general counsel across product, operations, and sales, and supports M&A and strategic transactions with IP and commercial diligence, risk allocation, and post‑close integration planning.

Brendan began his legal career by litigating high-stakes IP cases for more than a decade. He draws on that experience to help clients ship products and close deals with a calibrated, business-first risk management approach, ensuring tailored solutions that align with each client’s unique business goals.
