Doug Mitchell is a business and real estate transactional attorney with more than a decade of experience advising entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses, and established companies across a variety of industries, including wine and agriculture, food and beverage, hospitality, consumer products, technology and software, real estate, and professional services. As a Partner at Scale LLP, he serves as outside general counsel to clients at every stage of growth, providing practical, strategic, and business-minded legal advice tailored to their objectives.

Doug regularly counsels clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including entity formation and governance, debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, business restructurings and dissolutions, and the negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements. He also advises clients on real estate transactions and related matters, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, and license agreements.

Before joining Scale LLP, Doug practiced at a boutique Napa-based law firm, where he represented wineries, vineyards, and other businesses with deep roots in the wine industry. He began his legal career as a litigator, an experience that continues to inform his transactional practice by helping him identify risks early, anticipate potential disputes, and structure transactions with an eye toward practical and efficient outcomes.

Doug is committed to delivering commercially focused legal solutions and building long-term relationships with his clients. He serves as a trusted advisor to founders, executives, and business owners as they grow, operate, and transition their businesses.
