CONTACT
Kathryn (Kate) Fifield represents individuals and organizations in government investigations, white collar criminal matters, and complex civil litigation. She brings nearly a decade of litigation experience to her practice, most recently as a Trial Attorney in the Department of Justice’s Public Integrity Section, where she investigated and prosecuted complex public corruption cases across the United States against elected officials, senior military officers, and law enforcement personnel across the United States. Her cases included the trial conviction of a four-star Navy Admiral — the highest-ranking U.S. military officer ever charged and convicted of federal felonies — and a Puerto Rico state legislator convicted of offenses arising out of a multiyear bribery and kickback scheme. Kate also served as lead counsel in federal criminal cases arising from the January 6, 2021, attack on the United States Capitol, the largest coordinated criminal investigation in American history. Kate held an active Top Secret-SCI security clearance during her time at the Justice Department.
Prior to her time at DOJ, Kate clerked for U.S. District Judge Wilhelmina M. Wright in the District of Minnesota and for Justices David L. Lillehaug and Anne K. McKeig of the Minnesota Supreme Court. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where she served as an Articles Editor on the Wisconsin Law Review and published a note on evolving “place based” Fourth Amendment privacy doctrines. Before law school, Kate was a middle school social studies teacher in Chicago, and remains involved in youth development and civics education as a volunteer.
Kate is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and a member of Scale’s White Collar & Investigations team.
