Scott Zare

Scott Zare is an attorney whose practice is centered on patent prosecution and trademark prosecution. In addition to these core services, he provides legal opinions, handles licensing matters, and is engaged in intellectual property litigation. With a strong background in computer software and hardware, artificial intelligence, navigation technology, and mechanical arts, Scott leverages his expertise to serve a wide range of clients in the intellectual property field.

Prior to joining Scale, Scott dedicated 19 years to serving at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. During his tenure, he advanced to the role of primary examiner, served on the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, reviewed examiner work product as a technology quality assurance specialist, trained new examiners in the Patent Training Academy, and helped manage the Office of Petitions. The experience and institutional knowledge Scott acquired in these roles enable him to effectively advise clients on strategies to efficiently obtain and protect their intellectual property.

Beyond his professional commitments, Scott dedicates much of his free time to activities with his family and in his community. He is frequently found on the basketball court, coaching one of his three sons’ teams. He also enjoys spending time outdoors, running with his wife, and doing yard work.
